Just seen they have reduced the quantity on the bundle that is not Exclusive and the indidual albums too. 2nd to None and Live in Memphis are 2000 copies and Loving You is down to 1500. Previous, everything outside of the MoV Exclusives were 2500. It may be a wise decision to reduce the quantity. 3000 units of the first 2 batches (the 500 exclusives included) seems a bit high nowadays. If I'm not mistaken, FTD also reduced the quantity of their releases in the passing of the years... Apologies…my fault, but I think we are talking at cross purposes here. We were originally talking about the pressing numbers for the latest batch of MoV releases going down, possibly due to lack of sales. .It was coincidental that we moved on to the pressing numbers for FTD vinyl which you highlighted in your question. OK, whatever. I am really not sure if the numbers you mentioned are correct though. Based on what I know, and I've been purchasing FTD product since 2001, is that the products are basically print on demand, for the amount of preorders determines the size of the print run. Maybe they started out with 1500 units when the vinyl was a brand new category. From memory, FTD was pressing around 3000/3500 vinyl units initially, but it has fallen off in recent years. The early CDs and the classic album releases were around 6000 units with soundboards around 3500. Soundboards have dropped off too, because many were getting fed up with the repeatability factor of the shows. I’m sure that FTDs current pressings are based on pre-orders but with a percentage on top for latecomers, but I don’t think that was their initial way of pressing - it was a result of sales falling off after that. I for one am glad that the rare Good Times LP is getting a re-release. It's been a long standing request by many and re-issuing the same content with a different cover and a different colored vinyl protects the integrity and collectability of the original release while giving new customers / fans the option to get their hands on the title. They've really hit the sweet spot here, if you ask me.

In recent years, sales have skyrocketed across the board. These new MoV releases initially were 500 for the Exclusive pressings and 2500 for non exclusive, but this very lates batch of non exclusive have reduced pressings - 2000 for two of the titles and 1500 for the third. I can only assume this is because the first batch has not sold that well with copies still available.

These MOV re‑issues certainly look pretty, but this whole campaign feels a bit overkill to me. Three or four batches of three titles each, released in two different colors—one of them limited, the other strictly limited to 500 copies. I’ve bought the contents on these records numerous times over the years, and they don’t come cheap either. My go‑to vendors charge €30 for a single LP and even €75–€90 for the 4‑LP set. Thanks, but no thanks. I'm sure others feel the same.
In short: too many titles, too many options, too expensive.
