The German catalog is quite a mess actually: in 1969 Flaming Star was released as your 1969 Teldec press as CAS 2304 on the Camden label, yet it was also released (probably) simultaneously as INTS 1012 on the RCA International label (INTS 1012 on Discogs).
Have copies of these in my collection but not at home right now to post these. INTS 1012 has less German text on the back side and advertises other international artists which implied the INTS release was produced for export purposes (export to surrounding countries).
The German export INTS also differs significantly from the original UK release, which was also issued on the RCA International label as INTS 1012
(INTS 1012 UK press on Discogs)
JohanD wrote: September 30th, 2025, 3:10 am But the French clearly love the Camdens and released them as new ones under another name.(These are the Flaming Star ones)
If I am not mistaken the additional German version you shared is a 1976 reissue, based on the 26.21191 number that RCA started adding on the label (in between catalog and matrix number) around this time.

I do have the French Star release, the '80s UK Camden and probably 3 or 4 German pressings: the record was even reissued on the European/ German black-silver label (NL 89126) in 1984, which I also hold in my collection.

Never seen these French retitled issues before. Nice releases to look out for.

By the mid-80s the official releases were centralized and pressed in Germany for the whole of Europe. Never saw the Finnish Movie Songs and Sentimental records before. Sentimental from 1989 was also released on CD I learned through Discogs. Both stunning releases I will have to put on my want-list :) Thanks for sharing JohnnyByeBye.

I noticed this on eBay think it’s UK seller, they have for sale ‘Gold Records Vol 4 rare Never Ending Sleeve’.

According to the description, I don’t think the seller realise its rarity amongst collectors. I’d have it myself but I’ve already got a copy. Plus I’m at that stage of life where I’m wanting to slim down my collection due to space.

How do these sound? Probably top notch but great to read your review. I have a small collection post-2000 vinyls (MOV, FTD, MRS). I must say I have seen the MOV adds and have been tempted. But there only one budget which I will devote to Elvis vinyl each month which makes me prioritize historical vinyl (up to the 80s) to add to my collection first. That's just a personal choice. Enjoy AFoolSuchAsI looks great!

This was going to be a JR musing on the main site. But I thought it fit far better here.

Would you believe we have better shops in Nashville than in Memphis? Memphis has a pretty good (limited in what they have) shop in midtown that occasionally have some "goodies" but at a premium. And a shop owner that doesn't know an original from a later 70's pressing (and doesn't want to learn the easy steps as described above by others, because they said they are "experts". Pfffft.....)

Then a few years ago I had to go to Vanderbilt in Nashville for... Reasons we all know. After my 6 night stay in the hospital, we had three extra days on the agenda - (hence 3 prepaid hotel nights) that were "just in case days" that we now had nothing to fill them with.

I got out the almighty Google and typed in "record store near me", and wouldn't you know there was one in walking distance near me. I smiled at one of the reviews, because in the picture (taken 2 days prior) they had an ENTIRE JAM PACKED Elvis section.

SO, my plans on having a walk after not being able to move out of bed (after a continuous EEG for 6 days, where even if I shifted towards the edge of the bed an alarm went off...... HELL!) I was rather excited for a walk in a new place to explore. But after seeing the section I knew the return 2.5 mile walk back to the hotel would be impossible.

I don't even remember the name of the shop. I do remember their motto "notice there are no prices on our items? If you're nice to us, you're in for a surprise!"

They had quite a few originals in VG+ to EX condition that I plugged a few "holes" in my collection with. Even 45's with mint sleeves.

I was in heaven but thought to myself "there's no way in hell they would accept the minimal amount of funds I brought with me (after all this was a medical trip, not a "hunting" one.)

But I took them at their word, their motto. I think in the end I had 40+ LP's - Including a first pressing of EP's first album VG++/VG++, and a couple dozen 45s and a few STONE MINT EP's.

I got everything to the counter and the owner asked what brings you to town? I guess my southern accent isn't thick enough yet 😂 😳

I explained everything. Told him I had come from Memphis. You could tell he was a fan of EP and SUN artists because he was like a machine gun of questions!

Then the moment of reckoning.

He went thru my pile. Very carefully...

Asked what I had to spend (again not very much).

He pulled out the above mentioned first album.

Then the bombshell! He said you can have EVERYTHING ELSE you had brought to the counter!

I asked if he was sure (in a sort of unintentional "are you crazy?" way in retrospect.) And he asked "do you want me to change my mind? And i blurted out "Hell noooo. Sir!"

And he said tax is included in our agreed upon price. I was FLOORED.

I wish I remember the name of the shop for those that also go to Nashville in Aug/Jan.

For the upcoming question, I asked "why don't you price your records?" His response I will never forget.

He stated "watching you and others going through the rows of records, with delight in your eyes is payment enough. It reminds me of my youth (though I'm not a youngster but I guess to this guy I guess I was). He said since opening his shop decades ago, his two goals were to:

1. Pay the rent.
2. Make lasting friendships.

I got back to the hotel went to the in-laws room and told my FIL what went down (he didn't go). He said "there's no....." And before he could finish his sentence I plopped a portion of my "treasures" on the bed. The rest were in me and my wife's room.

The rest of the day was filled with reminiscing on their part. Into the night by the outdoor fire pit (A Hilton is still the place to stay, in any city! Except Memphis....) It was the highligh to the obviously hellish medical trip to Nashville.

Only if more folks could be like that man in the world.

But I understand why they can't.

This guy and his wife (girlfriend?) were true "diamonds in the rough."

What a great story, thank you J.R.! :) i felt like I was there with you in that store, just finding one treasure after another.:) I guess we all have those dream-comes-true collector's stories but that one is tough to beat. But I will share one of mine these days. It takes place in Arkansas of all places.

I stayed a couple of nights in Nashville back in 1997. I was a student, pretty much broke, just wondering around downtown with my guitarcase and suitcase. I loved it. Everything there smelled of music and musical roots. I didn't find any Elvis vinyl,or even record stores outside of Ernest Tubbs's though. But I went to a flea market and found an original publicity photo of Hank Williams for a couple of bucks. Still have it.

I really hope you are doing fine and healthy these days J.R.!

I know that mix is available on Apple Music but it has never been released previously. Not on 8Track nor on any other format. So I did not include it in my video nor did I hear it (have no subscription to Apple Music). So I couldn't tell. What's your opinion?
Thanks for reminding me -- I had forgotten that. I have Apple Music and listened to it but I don't have the setup you need to hear it properly.

I have been working like a dog for the last few weeks and now I have a few minutes to post. Here is one I know you are still on the hunt for which I was very lucky to acquire a few years. The very rare second pressing of the Double Trouble LP on rigid orange along with the "Trouble Double" cover.

Nice copy. I have been looking for one of those to complete my White Top LP collection. How did you acquire it?

Speaking of White Top monaural LPs, anybody have a copy of "Pot Luck" that they are looking to sell?

I believe the one on Apple Music is an unreleased quad mix.
