The second that the King of Rock ’n’ Roll stepped on stage, people fell in love with him thanks to his deep voice, alluring dance moves and unforgettable face. Along with his talent, though, people also fell in love with Elvis Presley’s family, who have continued to make headlines long after his death in 1977. Below, we break down exactly who is who in the Presley family tree and find out how they really feel about being related to the “Hound Dog Singer.”’
Elvis Presley
Elvis was born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, to Vernon and Gladys Presley. He reportedly loved music from a very young age and released his first-ever single—”That’s All Right”—in 1954. He was 19 at the time.
From there, his career only went up, and by the time he died, Elvis had earned three Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
“I learned very early in life that: ‘Without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain’t got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend —without a song.’ So I keep singing a song,” Elvis said in 1970.
On the personal front, Elvis was married once to Priscilla Presley from 1967 until 1973. They had one child, Lisa Marie Presley, who was born in 1968.
Elvis died in 1977 at age 42 from a heart attack caused by the amount of drugs in his system. To this day, he remains one of the most revered singers of all time.
Jesse Garon Presley
Jesse Garon Presley was Elvis’s identical twin. He was born 35 minutes before his rockstar brother but was stillborn, meaning Elvis never met him.
“Being a twin has always been a mystery for me. I mean, we were in our mother’s womb together, so why was he born dead and not me? He never even got his chance to live. Think about it, why me?” Elvis said, per Commercial Appeal. “Why was I the one that was chosen? And I’ve always wondered what would’ve been if he had lived; I really have. These kinds of questions tear my head up.”
Jesse was buried in a shoebox in Tupelo, Mississippi; however, there have been several conspiracy theories over the years that he actually never died and instead served as Elvis’s body double. These rumors have never been confirmed or denied.
(because it is a ridiculous one)
Priscilla Presley
As noted, Elvis’ only wife was Priscilla Ann Presley—formerly Wagner. She was born in 1945 and met the “Jailhouse Rock” singer in Germany when she was 14. He was 24 at the time and was serving in the United States Army.
“I remember when I set eyes on him, he was just so kind, so authentic,” Priscilla said in 2014. “I was just a teenager at the time, and I was in Germany, he was signing autographs. I just thought how he was the real deal.”
Seven years later, the two got married, with Priscilla being only 21 years old. Elvis was 32 and was reportedly unfaithful throughout their entire marriage. They got divorced in 1973, four years after welcoming Lisa Marie into the world.
“I did not divorce him because I didn’t love him,” Priscilla said in 2019. “He was the love of my life, truly. If anything, I left because I needed to find out what the world was like.”
Following their divorce, Priscilla welcomed another child—named Navarone Garibaldi—with her ex-partner, Marco Garibaldi, in 1987. Navarone is still alive and currently works as a musician.
Priscilla is still alive and lives in Los Angeles, California. She is 79 years old.
Lisa Marie Presley
Lisa Marie was Elvis and Priscilla’s only child. She was born in 1968 and reportedly split her time between her parents after their divorce. She did this until her father died, a day that she claimed was one of the worst of her life.
“It’s your greatest childhood fear: When you love someone, you don’t want to lose them,” Lisa Marie wrote in her 2024 memoir From Here to the Great Unknown, which she co-wrote with her daughter Riley Keough. “It’s f*ck*ng terror, and it tortures you. Most kids have that worry.”
“I just didn’t know what to do,” she continued, detailing how hard the death hit her. “Anger, extreme anger, was my first response; the grief came later. I don’t really know why, except that I was angry at the universe that this could happen.”
Following her father’s death, Lisa Marie entered into several high-profile relationships, including marriages to Danny Keough (1988 to 1994), Michael Jackson (1994 to 1996), Nicholas Cage (2002), and Michael Lockwood (2006 to 2021). She even welcomed children with her first and last husband.
Lisa Marie also developed an addiction to opioids. In her memoir, she claimed that at one point, she was taking 80 pills a day because “It was too painful to be sober.”
She died in 2023 from a small bowel obstruction caused by a previous surgery. She was 54 years old and was buried next to her son Benjamin, who took his own life in 2020.
Riley Keough
Riley Keough was Lisa Marie’s first child and Priscilla’s first grandchild. She was born in May 1989 and decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry very early on. In 2004, she began modeling, and since then has appeared in several films and TV shows—most notably the 2023 Amazon Prime mini-series Daisy Jones and The Six, in which she had to sing and play the guitar—just like her grandfather. Riley even wore a guitar strap similar to Elvis’ on the show as a way to honor him.
“It was my personal guitar, and I wanted to use it in the show,” she explained to Buzzfeed in 2023.
Sadly, though, her career wasn’t the only reason Riley made headlines that year. Following her mother’s death, Riley and her grandmother, Priscilla, entered into a legal battle over who was entitled to Lisa Marie’s estate. Thankfully, though, the two reached a settlement two months later.
Fast forward to May 2024, when a company entitled Naussany Investments & Private Lending LLC claimed that Lisa Marie had borrowed $3.8 million and put the Graceland property up as collateral prior to her death. Because of this, the investment company had planned to sell Graceland, but Riley filed a lawsuit against them claiming that they had forged her mother’s signature, meaning they had falsified the documents, and the sale was no longer valid. As of publication, Graceland has not been sold and remains the property of the Presley family.
Riley has been married to Ben Smith-Petersen since 2015, and she recently helped co-author her late mother’s memoir based on the tapes Lisa Marie left her.
“The tapes are an incredible portrait of the force of nature that she was,” Riley told People magazine in September 2024. “Depending on the day and her mood, she can sound locked-in or distracted, vulnerable and open or annoyed and closed off, hopeful, angry … everything. You hear her in all her complications.”
She lives in Los Angeles, California, and has two children with Smith-Petersen.

Lisa Marie’s second child, Benjamin Keough, was born in 1992. He is Riley’s full brother and the Presley family’s only grandson, and he was often compared to Elvis because of how much he looked like him.
Sadly, he took his own life in July 2020. Benjamin was 27 years old and is buried across from his grandfather at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.
“My mom tried her best to find strength for me and my younger sisters after Ben died, but we knew how much pain she was in,” Riley told People in 2024. “My mom physically died from the after-effects of her surgery, but we all knew she died of a broken heart.”
Benjamin was never married and had no children.
Harper and Finley Lockwood

Harper and Finley Lockwood are Lisa Marie’s twins, whom she shared with ex-husband Michael Lockwood. They were born in 2008 and mainly lived with Priscilla after their parents filed for divorce in 2016 in the aftermath of Lisa Marie reportedly finding inappropriate photos of Harper and Finley on Michael’s computer.
“There is lots of confusion, commotion and concern from all the talk circulating,” Priscilla wrote in a Facebook post in 2017. “Let me put this to rest … the girls have not been in foster care and never will be. The girls have been with me and will be until all this is sorted out.”
Michael did face charges of child abuse and neglect, but those were dropped in 2017. The twins were then sent to live with Lisa Marie and remained there until her death.
Both Harper and Finley prefer to stay out of the spotlight, and Riley is currently the sole trustee of their sub-trusts, a title their mother gave her. Recently, Finley was spotted out with her father and people were shocked by how similar she looked to Elvis. Harper was not there, and it remains unclear who is looking after the twins full-time.
