Beach Boys Concert by the Beach Boys was #1 on the Album chart for the fourth consecutive week. Elvis Presley was lined up at #2 with the Soundtrack to “Roustabout” while 12 x 5 from the Rolling Stones came in third. People by Barbra Streisand was #4 while the Supremes moved up with Where Did Our Love Go and the “Mary Poppins” Soundtrack was #6. The rest of the Top 10: The Beatles moved back up to 7 after 24 weeks with the Soundtrack to “A Hard Day’s Night”, The Beatles’ Story moved from 20-8 after three weeks, Dean Martin held on with The Door Is Still Open to My Heart and the Soundtrack to “My Fair Lady” dropped to #10.

Elvis had a small party at Graceland with food provided by Monty’s Catering. Sometime over this period of Christmas time Elvis tried LSD. He had read about it for almost a year and wanted to try it himself. Later Elvis, Larry, Priscilla and Jerry walked out behind Graceland and talked about having such good friends and how much they all cared about each other – Priscilla however had a bad trip, got paranoid and had to be re-assured by Elvis. As for anybody knows this was the only time Elvis experienced LSD.

The movie was based on this 2006 incident: A collection of Elvis Presley memorabilia bought by a council worker who embezzled nearly £600,000 was set to be sold to compensate the local authority. Julie Wall, 46, from Rippon Drive in Sleaford, was jailed for three years for the offence last October. The collection – which included rare recordings and foreign pressings of Elvis songs, was to be auctioned off by a High Court receiver to provide compensation.
