At the time I've read it somewhere. I don't know the source. Perhaps a rumour?

Ecstacy
Written by Doc Pomus & Mort Shuman in 1961; often rumoured as recorded by Elvis but there is no proof. Probably Elvis got a demo of the song.
According to the added documents the song is registered at ASCAP & BMI.

A little less conversation
The song was selected to be included in the NBC TV Special; Elvis should sing to a pre-recorded instrumental track. The instrumental track was a dub-down version (Elvis' vocal removed) from the recording on 7 march 1968 track 2004 take 16. This instrumental track is released on acetate (+LP 68'Comeback).

The first version was selected to be included after the Guitar man - opening scene / Commercial break according to pages 10-11 from the script dated 11 june 1968.
The second version (reprise) was selected to be included after the Arena medley according to pages 31-32 from the script dated 11 june 1968.

According to the revised script from 26 june 1968 the reprise version was cut; finally both versions were not recorded at all.
