Re: Show us your Elvis vinyl from around the world.
Today I found this Dutch beauty at a small fair in my (also small) hometown. It is not really something special, but I like the design, and Mr. Rijff helped with this release. It is in great condition and still has the beautiful 90 x 60 cm poster included. Often saw it on fairs but almost always without the poster or in bad condition. For €10,- it made my day.

Loved this album, still do!
I was a teenager when i first got it, the poster hung on my wall for years, gave it later to my (now) ex girlfriend
Later i picked it up again, including the poster.
Fond memories of this!

That is definitely an album that is on my shopping list! Wonderful conceptJohanD wrote: January 11th, 2026, 6:40 am The Italian 1982 version from the album that was released one year earlier.
"The European side of Elvis" is a good sounding classy theme compilation.

I am not sure if I wanted to share a record if I have to show it here or in the vinyl discussion threat.
What’s the difference in these?

I guess this thread is just for showing if you have some vinyl especially from other countries than the most obvious the US, the UK or Germany.
The other thread is for raising discussion about anything related to vinyl or to show / discuss vinyls from the above mentioned countries.
That's my interpretation anyway

Sweet memories. Was released back in 1982. The poster hung in my teenage bedroom for over a decade until I left my parents' house.Album and poster are in my collection.Bilbobaggins wrote: January 11th, 2026, 11:51 am Today I found this Dutch beauty at a small fair in my (also small) hometown. It is not really something special, but I like the design, and Mr. Rijff helped with this release. Re: Show us your Elvis vinyl from around the world.
@Colin.Bee posted the Record Covers release in his January 3 post. The master release, Elvis A Portrait In Music, must be the easiest record to find in Germany, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia. Along with the 1975 Camden Elvis' Christmas Album from the United Kingdom, you'll find this record in almost every record bin at flea markets, thrift stores, and record fairs.
Elvis A Portrait In Music was first released in Germany in 1968 (not in 1970, as Discogs suggests) and was subsequently released in the Netherlands by the Dutch distributor INELCO with a differentiation in labels. In this post, I'll focus on some German releases.

Elvis A Portrait In Music (with the unusual catalog number SRS 558) contains a compilation of hits up to 1968 (Guitar Man). Unfortunately, the '50s hits are available here in Electronically Reprocessed Stereo, and you shouldn't buy the record for the sound quality. It's terrible. The record was revolutionary because, following the Japanese example, it was the first gatefold release of an Elvis Presley album in Europe.

The first issue from 1968 came with a nice Kissin' Cousins poster

Re: Show us your Elvis vinyl from around the world.
In the mid-70s RCA Germany released an alternate cover version of A Portrait In Music , based on the label I would estimate this reissue to be released around 1974-1975 but I am happy to learn more detailed info on this particular release as reissues with the (regular) Double Trouble Bonus Photo Cover were also in circulation around that time. In 1977 the vinyl was included in a special issue Elvis Record Covers book of which @Colin.Bee already shared an impression.
The album remained commercially available until the mid-1980s, although only small numbers were pressed. One of the hardest-to-find reissues of A Portret In Music is the 1984-1985 repress on RCA International with the Black Label with Silver Ring. The gatefold was replaced by a single-pocket sleeve, and the album also received a new catalog number, in line with the 1980s Elvis catalog: NL 89103.

Yep totally agree, it is nice to read and see the whole story on that album. Thanks Alexander! And Alexander is really right, the lp can really be found everywhere...but an informed collector looking for it should go for the version with the gatefold cover and poster which is pretty cool.Bilbobaggins wrote: January 12th, 2026, 4:01 am Once more... wonderful copies @Alexander72. Re: Show us your Elvis vinyl from around the world.
Thank you @Alexander72 for the full story. I always wondered why the title was in English when it was for the German market originally. I guess it made it easier to release in other European countries as English is more universal than German?
