EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert Trailer
"I'd like to talk to you a little bit, ladies and gentlemen, about how I got in this business. There's been a lot written and a lot said but never from my side of the story..." Neon has revealed the first look teaser for the acclaimed new concert documentary called EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, from Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann as his follow-up to his own movie Elvis a few years ago. This premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival a few months ago – and opens in theaters worldwide starting in late February 2026 coming soon. EPiC features long-lost footage from Elvis Presley's legendary Vegas residency in the 1970s, woven together with rare 16mm footage from Elvis on Tour and treasured 8mm film from the Graceland archive, along with rediscovered recordings of Elvis telling "his side of the story." This is not just a concert doc, this is not just another musician biopic, it's so much more! A whole new look at the life & times & music of Elvis and his final years on stage in Vegas. It'll also play for one week in IMAX before showing in regular theaters.

Here's the first look teaser trailer for Baz Luhrmann's doc EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, on YouTube:

From TIFF: "Baz Luhrmann returns to the subject of his most audacious film — 2022’s Elvis — with the extraordinary EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert. Free of contemporary interviews with experts, critics, other stakeholders, the film is propelled by recently discovered archival footage shot at the beginning of the famed performer's Las Vegas residency. Originally intended to last a few weeks at the hotel, the 1969 engagement was shockingly lucrative, and stretched on for over seven years. Brilliantly compiled with an aficionado's enthusiasm & sensitivity, it shifts skilfully between rehearsals, where Presley is cheerful, hard-working, even goofy, and live performances that vary from powerful and grandiose to rushed." EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is directed by acclaimed Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, director of the movies Strictly Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge!, Australia (+ "Faraway Downs"), The Great Gatsby, and the big Elvis movie previously. It's produced by Baz Luhrmann, Jeremy Castro, Schuyler Weiss, Matthew Gross, Colin Smeeton. Neon will release Luhrmann's EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert doc in IMAX for one week on February 20th, 2026 - then in theaters worldwide starting on February 27th next year.

Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Neon released the teaser trailer for Epic: Elvis in Concert on Tuesday. The film opens exclusively in IMAX Feb. 20, then everywhere Feb. 27.

Neon announced the release date last week. The trailer introduces Elvis Presley's Las Vegas residency, a major comeback building on his 1968 TV special.

The teaser begins with Richard Strauss's "Also Sprach Zarathustra" which is most famously associated as the theme of 2001: A Space Odyssey. The theme eventually transitions to Presley's "An American Trilogy" singing "Glory, glory hallelujah."

A montage shows Presley shaking in a white suit or flower flower-patterned shirt.

Baz Luhrmann found footage of Presley's Las Vegas residency while researching his 2022 Elvis film. Luhrmann directed the new film, combining that footage with 16mm and 8mm behind-the-scenes and home movies, including footage of Priscilla Presley with baby Lisa Marie.

"There's been a lot written, a lot said but never from my side of the story," Presley says in the teaser.

‘Epic’ Teaser: Baz Luhrmann Promises an Elvis Concert Film That Will Blow You Away
The "Elvis" director is framing his next ode to Presley as more than a documentary, more than a concert film, and unlike anything audiences have ever seen.

Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann is still very much “All Shook Up” over the King of Rock & Roll, as the teaser trailer for his upcoming feature, “Epic: Elvis Presley in Concert,” makes clear. Luhrmann’s cinematic love affair with the King began back in 2022, with the release of “Elvis,” starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks as the hip-swinging Memphis crooner and his domineering Dutch manager.

In the months that followed the biopic’s release, the director promised a four-hour cut of the film, which was eventually abandoned, and offered his services to “Priscilla” director Sofia Coppola as a self-proclaimed Elvis expert. But it became obvious that retooling or being peripherally involved in other people’s projects wasn’t enough when Luhrmann announced, at the end of last year, that he would be directing his first nonfiction feature in the form of a concert film drawing on materials he discovered while researching “Elvis.”

According to the logline, “Epic” (or, as Luhrmann styles it, “EPiC”), which premiered at the Toronto Film International Film Festival earlier this year, “features long-lost footage from Presley’s legendary Las Vegas residency in the 1970s, woven together with rare 16mm footage from [the 1972 concert film] ‘Elvis on Tour,’ and precious 8mm from the Graceland archive, plus recordings of Elvis telling ‘his side of the story.’”

The title’s bombastic first trailer is set to the medley “An American Trilogy” and features crisp footage of Elvis, literally, entering the building to perform for a cheering audience in Las Vegas. It also plays up Luhrmann’s role in rediscovering the archival images, while promising that the feature is “more than a documentary” and “more than a concert film,” it’s — drumroll, please — “epic.”

“Epic: Elvis Presley in Concert” will release for a one-week special engagement in IMAX theaters on February 20, 2026, and it will be available in theaters nationwide starting Friday, February 27. Watch the full teaser trailer below.
