Marty Robbins becomes the first major artist to cover an Elvis Presley tune when he records the Arthur Crudup composition “That’s All Right” for Columbia Records. Robbins’ effort will pay off in a Top Ten hit on the Billboard Country chart.

With Hank Snow, Rod Brasfield, Mother Maybelle, and The Carter Sisters; Elvis performed at the Lyric Theater, Indianapolis. Elvis and the group got paid $1,000 for 4 shows.
Tom Diskin reported to the Colonel that Elvis had done better and better, getting the kids “all hopped up” each night, but he still needed to work on pacing his act.

After this show, Elvis wrote a note in his penthouse suite which was found in a wastepaper basket inside Elvis’ bedroom, by a cleaner in a: “I feel so alone sometimes. The night is quiet for me. I would love to be able to sleep. I am glad everyone is gone now. I will probably not rest tonight. I have no need for all of this. Help me Lord.” He weighed 235 Pounds and was severely depresse

Vernon Presley was taken to the hospital after an Elvis concert. He left the hospital two days later after what appeared to be a heart attack.
