Elvis vinyl mastered by Boppin' Bob Jones

thankyou Claus-there was one on ebay that just went but not sure that Bob Jones was cutting Elvis at this time.

He probably wasn't but Aloha was released on the black label and it was done by him.
I think it's a bit strange that FEIM and From Memphis To Vegas weren't released on the green RCA International label when most of the albums pre-1973 were reissued on that label.

Perhaps they had enough left over stock. That said, I don't recall seeing stickered INTS pressings, so those titles must have remained at full price until the pressing operation moved to Germany.

It's kinda sad that the best albums like In Person, NBC-special, first album and Elvis is Back always seemed most uncommon to find in records shops back in the eighties.

But maybe the reason was that they were still full price in RCA catalog,so the shopkeepers preferred to have a stock of Camdens with less risk.

RCA UK flooded the market with the green label, mid priced, International re-issues during the early '80's, and as many of these titles had been out of print since circa 1970, this appears to have created a reasonable amount of demand. Even though many of these albums were not representative of Elvis' best work.

Of course classic albums such as Elvis Is Back (which was eventually given a green label reissue) and From Elvis In Memphi remained part of the catalogue since they were first released, so I guess it was inevitable that, with the exception of new fans, most people already had these albums in their collections.

That said, when the pressing operation moved to Germany there appears to have been a conscious effort to make the entire catalogue available at mid price. Subsequently, it wasn't a bad time to be a new fan, as pristine, newly pressed records were widely available at affordable prices, whilst I'm sure that more seasoned collectors also welcomed the opportunity to replace worn out copies of their favourite albums...

well I am 3 away from completing my Boppin Bob collection, but must admit it`s getting pretty hard now. I am very surprised (maybe I shouldn't be ) that some of these sellers have no idea what I am talking about with regards to BB etchings signature. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

I have Elvis in Hollywood and Something For Everybody - both with BBJ etched in the run out groove.

Is A Date With Elvis the black label version? I don't think the black label version has BBJ's signature. My green INTS 5032 copy is by Pete Norman

There was a link to the Discogs page of this pressing in this thread somewhere,and the page mentioned a matrix number and other writings in the deadwax. And that had BBJ's initials or signature. So I would say that's concrete evidence that there have been copies of that pressing which were cut by BBJ.

I picked up a copy of INTS 5135, Something for eveybody , yesterday at an (almost local) record store. Together with 5 other green labels I was looking for.

The BBJ pressing of Roustabout sounds phenomenal! Well worth tracking down if you can.

I'll have to go and recheck my copy of Girl Happy as I can't remember it if is a BBJ version or not

EDIT: Having checked, mine is the Pete Norman version with 1E in the run out. Now I need to find the BBJ version - 2U in the run out!

Finally obtained a copy Bilbobaggins...thanks for all the help can you please forward a link to the SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY LP from BBJ and is it BOPPIN BOB that is etched or just BJ?? thanks again my friend, appreciate this just maybe I will get them all soon enough
