...for those who don`t have AMERICAN CROWN JEWELS these above and others can also be found on ELVIS THE AMERICAN WAY VOL 1 - 5 on the SOUTHERN COMFORT label.
And, don't forget "Finding the Way Home" which provided us with the master track plus 2 line vocal take Elvis singing Poor Man's Gold. That was a hidden bonus track at the end of Disc 2. Just played that set a few weeks ago --- what a great listen.

Shame that all the tracks were in mono… but still great at the time.

Indeed, Venus was on fire, and they released many great titles.
Since the ’70s is my main interest regarding Elvis,Venus is probably my favorite bootleg label of all time.

Yes, there are several false starts and long false stats exclusive to the set.

Since the release of the complete 'Girl Happy" sessions, there is not very much unreleased stuff on this CD. The few unreleased tracks are all from 'It Happened At The World's Fair". Still a nice compilation to give a spin, once in a while!

Relax #12 lfs
I’m Falling In Love Tonight #7 cpl
Cotton Candy Land #3 lfs
How Would You Like To Be #3 lfs

...sadly the time for Sony to get this correct was with the 2018 release 50th ANNIVERSARY EDITION box set  that said maybe they will clean it all up again and include everything for the 2028 60th anniversary edition ;) Has there ever been a PERFECT absolutely PERFECT Sony release after his death?? That sounds like a new topic?? ;)

You are right Sweet-Angeline, that set was THE (missed) opportunity. Indeed, maybe 2018... or a book/CD combo 'the making of', but I realise less and less fans favor those big sets nowadays ( But I do...).

And what is really PERFECT in this world? It all depends on who you ask. If I really enjoy a release, it's good enough for me. I was listening to the three vinyl 'Essential Elvis' volumes today... they are perfect enough for me. ;-)

As for the Memphis '69 recordings I took the 5 volumes of the 'The American Way' CD's as my source. They are the most complete. I also have the "There's Always me' sets, Ámerican Crown Jewels' and 'Finding The Way Home', but there's nothing on those CD's that isn't on 'The American Way'. The tracks on Bilko's 'The Other Side Of Memphis' are no alternate takes, they are made by using one of the stereo channels and then made into mono tracks.

I also didn't look at any of the alternate mixes and partly overdubbed mixes that are found on many releases. Just Elvis' vocal recordings.

...with regards to the 69 studio sessions, I have this huge boxset called 827 Thomas Street. It contains 6 LPs, 5 CDs, a 45rpm and a booklet. It`s incredible to look at. Mine is on blue vinyl. The CDs total 91 tracks. It was first released in 2015 on CD only and then some CD/Vinyl versions in 2018. See elvisoncd for more info.

That set indeed looks beautiful. Does it contain officially unreleased tracks that did not appear on the 'The American Way' set?

well completed my review and the only thing I see not on THE AMERICAN WAY set is;

YOU`LL THINK OF ME (take 14) unless I am mistaken but don`t think so or it`s a misprint

Thank you for checking! If it is indeed take 14 then it is officially released on FTD and the mainstream 'American Sound 1969' set.

This is a wonderful set of CDs. How they managed to get those tracks is a mystery.
Well @John, I guess we'll never know exactly. But maybe this is part of the answer:

When I visited an Elvis meeting in the Netherlands with some friends, in the mid 90's, they played a tape with tracks that clearly were unreleased outtakes. Talking to one of the people who organised the meeting, this person told us that this one tape was only a part of the many, many outtakes he had on tape. He said that a Dutchman in the Elvis-scene got dozens of 2nd generation cassette tapes filled with studio sessions and some soundboards too. This Dutchman got them from a person very high in the Elvis 'research hierarchy'. They were never given with the intention of releasing all this stuff, he said ( a little naive, I'd think). I thought he was exaggerating at the time, but later that year the first CD's were released with lots of outtakes in good quality, followed by good soundboards...

The 2-CD set 'The Complete Spinout Sessions" has quite some unreleased takes (until a FTD sessions box is released, wich will surely happen, I think). Released by 'The Famous Groove' in 1997... A lot of these outtakes were also released on several different other bootlegs.

I am assuming you have a list of Bootleg CDs that still contain officially unreleased studio outtakes or are you just using Keith Flynn as the source?? Basically the boot CDs that are still worth keeping as a collector ;)

Yep, I have a big excel-list of studiorecordings that I keep up to date for more than 15 years now. It starts with the first recording of 'My Happiness' and ends with ' He'll Have To Go'. Every studiotake is in the list, even if the take is lost, erased, or still unreleased., There is more info in the list (tracktime, matrixnumbers, what CD or LP the best version that I have is on, etc). I crosscheck it every now and with Keith's site. That's why I place a link to his site most of the time. He's the authority on this matter after all, and I do appreciate his fantastic work...

looks incredible thanks for posting...bottom line (including the ones you have already posted) we can`t be looking at that big of number are we?? pertaining to unreleased studio material still only available on bootlegs, as I would think that number has dropped significantly over the years.

Yes, the number of unreleased takes on bootlegs has steadily dropped since FTD started releasing sessions. Some boots, that I haven't mentioned yet, with still a reasonable amount of unreleased takes are 'The Complete Frankie And Johnny Sessions' and the 'Welcome To The Jungle' series. 'Hard Knocks" also has some unreleased takes. I will post about them later.

I think there will be a moment when every single second of Elvis singing in the studio will be released officially. (I don't think Elvis would have appreciated that, by the way)

But for the rest... there's not much left. Except for some releases with alternate, undubbed and unedited mixes.
