FTD: Endgame
FTD: Endgame
Apologies for the sensationalist topic title, but inspired by the discussion of the end of FTD on the 'World of FTD book' posts made me start to think about what is realistically left for FTD to release. Feel free to add anything I may have missed. I've tried to focus on what is known to exist (so no complete Hound Dog session) and avoid unnecessary duplication (i.e. where complete sessions have been released not suggesting a re-release).
Studio Releases:
Complete GI Blues Sessions (we have most cuts on the 2 FTD releases - but not in order and not sure if all between songs dialogue is on there)
Flaming Star
Follow That Dream (we have all the session material on the previous FTD release but stereo masters are missing and its not in order)
It Happened at the World's Fair
Frankie and Johnny
Paradise, Hawaiian Style
Spinout
Clambake
1970 Nashville sessions (we have most material but not in order and may be missing some dialogue)
1971 Nashville sessions (as above)
1972 Hollywood session (we do not have it in order - marginal)
1973 Stax/Palm Springs sessions (in full and in order)
1975 Hollywood sessions (we have the material but not in order)
1976 Graceland sessions (as above)
Live tapes:
Complete February 1970 'On Stage' recordings
Complete February 1972 Las Vegas recordings (only missing a few bits and repeated cuts)
Final Tours volume 4/5?
Elvis In Concert
Closing Shows from 1973/74 (Feb and Sep) might make a nice release
Maybe a few soundbooth recordings from 1973?
Compilation of shows from Autumn 1976?
So a few nice releases to come and material for several years - but the archive is definitely dwindling. But then again, Elvis has been gone nearly 50 years.

Re: FTD: Endgame
Endgame... nice
I think you covered most of the possible sets...
Maybe these could be added:
Stay Away Joe session (still some unreleased takes)
Live A Little, Love A Little (ditto)
Burbank 68 studio (ditto). They could throw in a nice big book...
Memphis 69 (ditto). Despite the earlier, near complete set. Small chance I guess...
The quite decent AR's of the two very last shows, Cincinnati & Indianapolis. Maybe combined with Elvis In Concert.

Re: FTD: Endgame
Since my main interest regarding Elvis is the ’70s, I’m going to comment on that period.AndrewJ wrote: October 6th, 2025, 5:49 am Apologies for the sensationalist topic title, but inspired by the discussion of the end of FTD on the 'World of FTD book' posts made me start to think about what is realistically left for FTD to release. There are many FS and complete takes from the ’70s available only on bootlegs — especially from 1976, where we have quite a lot.
I made a CD-R compilation around 7 or 8 years ago, and it had over an hour of playing time.(content still unreleased officially)
And not everything in the Sony vault is available on bootlegs.
Edit: also takes from Memphis 1969 are on bootlegs only.
Re: FTD: Endgame
I wondered how much material would be available on the 70/71/73/76 sessions if they released them as complete sessions. So definitely worth doing this then. It would definitely be good to hear the studio chatter in the right place and the takes in order for these sessions.KingElvis wrote: October 6th, 2025, 7:41 amSince my main interest regarding Elvis is the ’70s, I’m going to comment on that period.AndrewJ wrote: October 6th, 2025, 5:49 am Apologies for the sensationalist topic title, but inspired by the discussion of the end of FTD on the 'World of FTD book' posts made me start to think about what is realistically left for FTD to release.
