Elvis performed at the City Auditorium, Greenville, Texas.

1956
Elvis at the 20th Century Fox commissary with Robert Wagner (on his left) and Alan Hale Jr., the skipper from Gilligans Island. Elvis receives a ‘Triple Crown’ award from Billboard magazine staff (also seated) for the single Don’t Be Cruel topping all three sales charts – pop – country and R & B.

During a visit with his just arrived family in the Ritter’s Park Hotel Elvis met Margit Buergin, a 16 year old typist. Margit wanted to get a picture of Elvis with herself. Elvis obliged and started to date her.

Elvis flew to Los Angeles to stay with Linda Thompson at her new apartment. He picked up a new Ferrari that he had ordered in Hollywood.
He also met a private investigator, John O’Grady, who had been talking to Elvis about doing something to prevent the publishing of the bodyguard’s book. Elvis agreed with the approaching of O’Grady to Red West, Sonny West and Dave Hebler with a cash offer. This plan failed. O’Grady wanted to put up the pressure but Elvis refused.

1982

Twenty years after its first release, EMI Records re-issues The Beatles’ “Love Me Do” in the UK. It will rise to #4 by the end of the month.

1999

Paul McCartney’s album “Run Devil Run” was released. The album is a collection of rock ‘n’ roll cover songs recorded by various artists including Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley.

2009

Elvis Presley’s grandson, 17-year-old Benjamin Keough, was offered a $5 million contract by Universal Records to record up to five albums, according to Britain’s Daily Telegraph.

The asking price for the King of Rock’s beige-coloured 1972 Cadillac de Ville Estate – which is being auctioned in Salzburg on October 20 – is 100,000-200,000 euros (US$115,500-$230,500), Vienna’s Dorotheum auction house said.
