Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion
Got this boxset a few years now.
The entries on Discogs are a mess and it looks like the box i have is mixed with others. (wich is not true, i bought it new).
It's the German pressing, but since there are two (from the same year), it's mixed.
My copy has the English 63 pages (small) booklet (and not in German like mentioned) from the first pressing.
It has plain white innersleeves, not the ones with Readers Digest on it, as with the second pressing.
Somebody mentioned in the comments that the songs on the first vinyls are in stereo (that's also mentioned on the labels), but that's not true.
The 50's songs are crispy mono.
The rest sound very good too on all the tracks, maybe due too the Direct metal mastering (DMM).
These are 8 fantastic good sounding albums in a nice box with a pretty cool (tiny, in size, not in pages) booklet.
It may be not that rare, but if you can find this at a decent price, it's well worth the investment.

Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion
Stunning copy indeed and still need that one for my collection. Impossible to find. You are looking for this one? Also very hard to find and don't have a spare copy unfortunately. Yesterday a box with over 40 records from the US came in with 2 records I hoped to be extremely rare Orange Rigids (1968-1970). And the gamble paid off this time.Mike C wrote: October 3rd, 2025, 8:34 pmThanks for reminding me -- I had forgotten that. I have Apple Music and listened to it but I don't have the setup you need to hear it properly.Alexander72 wrote: September 27th, 2025, 12:38 pmI know that mix is available on Apple Music but it has never been released previously. Not on 8Track nor on any other format. So I did not include it in my video nor did I hear it (have no subscription to Apple Music). So I couldn't tell. What's your opinion?Mike C wrote: September 27th, 2025, 11:07 am Just had a chance to read through the whole thread and loving it. The Quad Mix video was very cool.
Just curious, Alexander, what is your take on the Quad 8 mix of Elvis Country?
I have been working like a dog for the last few weeks and now I have a few minutes to post. Here is one I know you are still on the hunt for which I was very lucky to acquire a few years. The very rare second pressing of the Double Trouble LP on rigid orange along with the "Trouble Double" cover.

Yeah, I collect all the records I buy in the United States and send them in combined shipments to The Netherlands to avoid high shipping rates and duties. I use Paypal on a daily basis and although it is not my favorite payment methode I never had a problem.AfoolSuchAsI. wrote: October 4th, 2025, 12:21 pm Hi Alexander,

Yes, it is the monaural copy of Pot Luck I am looking for. I also have a White Top Monaural copy of it but it is only VG condition, so I'd like to upgrade it. Thanks for sharing your other ones. I have a solid copy of the White Top Stereo version of Pot Luck, too.Alexander72 wrote: October 4th, 2025, 2:32 pmAh just rereading the thread and saw you were looking for the Pot Luck Monaural. Locating White Top copies of Girls, Girls, Girls was a bit of a challenge. But managed to find those.
Which monaurals are you looking for? Thanks for the kind words on Double Trouble -- that was a needle in a haystack.

- Something For Everybody (LPM)
- Pot Luck (LPM)
- Girls Girls Girls (LPM)
- It Happened At The Worlds Fair (LSP)
All other LPM/ LSPs on Black Label White Top are covered although some may deserve an upgrade.

Thank you JohanD for your post. That set is really nice,I have never seen the booklet, pretty cool!JohanD wrote: October 4th, 2025, 11:21 am Got this boxset a few years now.

And to stay within the topic of that box set, I need to make an addition regarding to the complete Finnish lp discography that I wrote earlier in this topic.
Legenda elää (8 lp box set, Finland, 1987)
https://www.discogs.com/release/3603903 ... 3%A4%C3%A4
The "Legend Lives On" -box set was also released specifically for Finland! The name of the box is "Legenda Elää", which is a loose translation of the name in English.
The Finnish version does not contain any booklet, and it looks like it is pretty much a direct copy of the re-issues that you mentioned in your text. As it reads on the label,it was manufactured in Germany as well. It has the nice inner sleeves with text in "gold-color" letters. The same great sound quality, and you can sometimes find this for an affordable price too.
There was also a C-cassette version of this that can be found in Discogs.

I guess the Finnish version was printed (coverwise/design) in lesser quantities, since it's a smaller market.
Either way, it's indeed a great good sounding set!

Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion
You might be right, but it doesn't have to be of inferior quality if Readers Digest purchased the raw materials needed to produce the box in high volumes. I suspect the Finnish box set has the same basic quality as the British, French, or German ones. Either way, it's a beautiful box set, of course, and the Finnish version is incredibly unique.JohanD wrote: October 5th, 2025, 4:34 amNow that's pretty cool!JohnnyByeBye wrote: October 5th, 2025, 4:00 amThank you JohanD for your post. Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion
Agreed,it sounds good! Probably pressed using the same masters as the ones for Germany.
By the way, isn't that funny that the "Last Hits" side - as pictured in the label image above - contains "The Girl of My Best Friend"... it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the songs on that side

Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion
I do believe that "The girl of my best friend" was released as an A side for single in 1976, and is therefore at it's place (even if it is a 1960 recording and it sounds weird in between the other songs).JohnnyByeBye wrote: October 5th, 2025, 5:15 amAgreed,it sounds good! The single was produced in the UK,Germany and even in Belgium.

Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion
Yep, I knew that. And I agree that theoretically it was one of his last "a-sides" in a way. But I personally would not have put that re-released song in the middle of those other 70's singles, purely from artistic point of view...it does not fit in there at all. But obviously the producers of that set were looking at it from statistical point just having a list of singles released in country X during the 70's and working from there.JohanD wrote: October 5th, 2025, 5:25 am I do believe that "The girl of my best friend" was released as an A side for single in 1976, and is therefore at it's place (even if it is a 1960 recording and it sounds weird in between the other songs).
