Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion
I do believe that "The girl of my best friend" was released as an A side for single in 1976, and is therefore at it's place (even if it is a 1960 recording and it sounds weird in between the other songs).
The single was produced in the UK,Germany and even in Belgium.
Yep, I knew that. And I ...

Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion
Now that's pretty cool!
I guess the Finnish version was printed (coverwise/design) in lesser quantities, since it's a smaller market.
Either way, it's indeed a great good sounding set!
Agreed,it sounds good! Probably pressed using the same masters as the ones for Germany.
By the way, isn't ...

Re: Xmas LPs and Elvis
I bought this weird Portugese lp today from a record fair. I never knew that lp like this even existed before today
Discogs says it was released in 1986. Definitely a grey market release, nothing to do with RCA/BMG

Re: The German "Bravo" magazine
Thanks Bilbo!:Elvis seemed to be one of those artists that Bravo kept running stories about. I bought numerous issues in the 80's that had articles on Elvis and they aölways had great color photos and sometimes posters.

Re: The "Laurel" bootlegs
I think it is mentioned in the Elvis bootleg book that the tapes used by Laurel for the set were cassette copies dubbed from the mono sessions reels Vic Colonna had acquired from a former Radio Recorders engineer. Vic sent the tapes to Ger just before the FBI picked him up.
Was it so that the ...

Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion
I had the same feeling of excitement as you had Colin. Those were very good years, the late 80's and the 90's. These releases, the Double Features, Collector's Gold, etc etc. We still have to thank Ernst and his team for opening the vaults and taking care of Elvis' legacy. If it weren't for them ...

Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion
On FECC,I posted an article about a bunch of lp's that were pressed in Sweden around 1977-81. Most of my text was based on the excellent FTD book "How RCE brought Elvis to Europe". Along the years, I have bought many of them and that collecting them all still an ongoing project of mine.

Re: Elvis vinyl related discussion
On the lates FTD 3cd set sessions, they redone the masters completely. It's still not what it should be, but it's milestones better then any version before (not counting the Double features).
But knowing that those newly done masters soon will turn up on this vinyl, it could be the best ...
