For many years I believed, and I also recall reading, that Ernst was born in 1950. Only recently has a source seemed to indicate that it was 1951. But I'm inclined to think it was 1950. Perhaps someone can confirm this.

There's nothing to indicate that Ernst will retire in 2027. If he does, he'll certainly have every right to, but perhaps he'll continue for a few more years after that.
As for the 2027 releases, there's a lot of secrecy surrounding them.

I'd like to think the 59 hours are an approximation of the intended usable filmed footage.
By simple logic, it can't be from all the angles available for the two movies.
it must be approximately 200 hours IMO. :D

I think that by now, many fans are older, and when we know that some people know exactly what's in the archives and what isn't, this secrecy, in my humble opinion, no longer makes sense.

Is it possible that with Volume 3, this series is over, and there isn't a single more soundboard in Sony/FTD's possession? Not from May or June 1977?
